Annual General Meeting
October 28 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Please be advised that its our annual AGM at the end of this month, Monday 28th of October, 7.30pm at the Seven Seas pub. Unfortunately, this venue doesn’t provide a catering facility in the evening so I’m afraid, this year, there won’t be the usual buffet laid on.
Usual topics of discussion, but in particular, falling membership numbers. We estimate we will lose about 6 members this/next year, mainly due to age and health issues. New, younger members are quite rare these days due to other ‘on line’ interests and, not least, current legislation regarding ‘minors and vulnerable adults’. Given the above, and to help us better plan for the future, It would be very useful to know who doesn’t intend to re-join the club next year. You don’t have to go into detail why, just drop Leon or myself an email stating your intention. Thanks!
The club constitution requires that the present committee stand down at the AGM and another re-elected. In practice, most of the old committee are re-elected and carry on. Chris C has already made it known that he intends to stand down as ‘events organiser’ and in response to this email, I would ask if any other committee member intends to stand down as well?
That being so, I would also ask the general membership, if anyone else would like to join our ‘Motley Crew’ for next year to help to run the club? Further, If anyone (member or committee) would like to take on the role of club Chairman, I certainly wouldn’t be offended and happy to step down.
Thanks Tony BMFC Chr/sec.
